All children participating in the Critter Class experience will sit crisscross applesauce on the floor. This allows everyone to safely interact with the animals while helping protect our critters, too. Staying close to the ground helps keep both the children and animals safe and makes for a comfortable, hands-on experience.

The number of animals included in your visit is based on the package you select; however, specific animals cannot be guaranteed. Our animals’ health, safety, and comfort always come first. The animals attending may vary depending on shedding, temperament, seasonal behaviors, brumation, and how each animal is feeling that day. We’ll always bring a fun and exciting variety of critters for you to meet!

Yes! Critter Class is a hands-on experience, and children will have opportunities to touch and interact with many of our animals. How each animal is handled will depend on the animal, its size, temperament, and what is safest for both the animal and the children.

That’s completely okay! No child is ever forced to touch or hold an animal. Children are welcome to watch from a comfortable distance and participate at their own pace. Often, simply learning about an animal and watching others interact with it can help children become more curious and confident.

The animals we bring are carefully selected for educational interactions and are handled with safety as our top priority. We teach children how to approach, touch, and interact with each animal properly. As with any live animal, we always ask guests to follow the instructor’s directions to help keep everyone—including our critters—safe.
